Is Being Positive Enough?

I would like to think that I am a positive guy.  But, I find myself complaining to friends about the economy and how it is affecting my family.  Deep down, I know I am a positive guy.  But, I get caught up in the arguments of unbearable local restrictions that are squelching any ingenuity one might try to exhibit.  We are instructed in God’s Word to be positive in our attitudes and love, but I can’t help it, sometimes I just love to be negative - if only for a moment.

We have every reason to be negative these days, but I remind myself not to be.  Being thankful for what I have in times of need, changes my outlook for the better.  The simple act of helping someone else, who is going thru tougher times than me, has an uncanny way of lifting my spirits.  Although taking a positive approach to life in the current economic climate seems naive, it is a good investment with long term benefits.

I absolutely believe being positive is enough.  The battles are still raging but we need to remind ourselves that we already know who wins in the end.  Dark days have settled among some of us, but hope still shines on the hill.  Opportunities have not diminished, but somewhere in the mist of the battle we have let fear take hold.  I am not saying we need to bury our heads in the sand and not face reality.  I am just reminding myself of a truth I learned many years ago, that when I look at the bright side the dark things do not have such power over me.
